UPDATED: RED JETS CANCELLED AS OIL LEAK FORCES ONLY BOAT OUT OF SERVICE

Red Funnel’s hi-speed Red Jet service has been suspended once again this morning (Monday) due to a technical issue with the only boat in operation. It’s said that Red Jet 6 has been pulled from service until further notice due to an oil leak on the port jet unit. The 07:15 sailing from West Cowes was pulled at the last minute. The vessel is the only Red Jet currently available on the West Cowes-Southampton route, with Red Jet 4 out of service due to a technical failure of her starboard engine. Red Jet 7 has been unavailable due to an annual refit and was due back last Wednesday, but her return to service was pushed back until Saturday due to delays with a required survey. Now, several days later, it appears Red Jet 7 is still not available – meaning the entire hi-speed operation rests solely on Red Jet 6, which has broken down again. An update is expected from Red Funnel at 11:00. Red Funnel apologises for the inconvenience caused to your journey. UPDATE @ 13:25 – Services remain suspended this afternoon, with Red Jet crossings cancelled until at least 15:35. UPDATE @ 18:06 – Red Jet 7 has returned to service from her annual refit and therefore the 18:30 from Southampton and 19:05 from West Cowes will now run.
