Red Funnel’s East Cowes to Southampton vehicle ferry service will see a temporary 5-day berth change starting this week (Thursday), lasting through until 23rd March, allowing for essential maintenance.
The vehicle service will sail from its usual East Cowes terminal to Berth 25 in Southampton, just a 5-minute drive from its usual location at Terminal 1, allowing the cross-Solent operator to complete important maintenance works, ensuring its service is safe for users.
Works are set to take place on one of the port’s mooring dolphins, which helps keep vessels securely alongside while passengers and vehicles board and disembark safely. The work requires specialist underwater dive teams, so the area must be clear of vessels during this period.
Neil Chapman, Operations Director at Red Funnel, has said:
“Keeping our customers moving safely and reliably is always our top priority. This planned maintenance forms part of our ongoing investment in vessels and shore infrastructure to ensure every crossing operates smoothly and securely.
“Berth 25 is just a few minutes from our usual terminal, and we’re putting plans in place to make the temporary change straightforward for everyone. Booked customers are receiving guidance and our teams will be on hand over the five-day period to help customers.”
The ferry-operator has assured users that transport will be in place for foot passengers between Berth 25 and Terminal 1, as well as ensuring dedicated signage to direct those travelling in vehicles.
