If you go down to the park today you may be in for a great surprise… officers from the Isle of Wight’s policing team have turned into the Easter Bunny to offer a surprise for local youngsters.
Overnight, Police from C shift have been out and about across the Island hiding Easter Eggs in local playgrounds and public spaces for children to find and take home.
Each egg has been labelled up as coming from Isle of Wight Police as a way of engaging with young people in a positive way.
A number of eggs were also dropped off to the Children’s Ward at St Mary’s Hospital overnight.
Sergeant Charlie Winchester of Hampshire Constabulary has said:
”Hopefully this little surprise will help towards building that important bond between our islands next generation & the Police.
”Please remind your children that the Police are here to help and that if they are ever scared, then they should have confidence in coming to us where we will ensure they are safe”.
