Police have opened an investigation into a serious assault in Apse Heath, which has left a man hospitalised and facing the prospect of partially losing his sight.
Hampshire Constabulary is investigating an incident which took place at Village Way Caravan Park off Newport Road on Monday evening.
According to Police, officers were called to the park – situated between Lake and Apse Heath – at 18:31 and upon arrival discovered a man in his 40s with serious facial injuries.
Island Echo is told that the victim has spent the past 48 hours in hospital and only came round earlier today (Wednesday). He is now being questioned by detectives who are piecing together the events of 12th April.
According to sources, the man has sustained injuries to his face which potentially threaten the sight in his right eye. He will undergo surgery tomorrow.
Police say that enquiries are ongoing at this time but no arrests have been made.
Forensic investigators have been conducting examinations of the bloody crime scene over the past 2 days, although Police have now left the scene.

The thing is you always missed alot of the crime reports in the local papers unless they were full or half spread. As most of it was a week after the incident.
The fact everything goes online within hours of the event makes it look worse.
