A man who sexually assaulted and abducted a woman is now being hunted by Police as he is wanted on recall to prison – and it’s thought he is back on the Isle of Wight.
Police are seeking the public’s help in locating 23-year-old Ian Willett, who was jailed for 40 months in 2021 for sexual assault, assault by beating and kidnap. However, Islanders are being told not to approach him.
Hampshire Constabulary say that Willet, who is said to be from Waterlooville but previously lived in Nelson Road in Newport, is wanted on recall to prison for a breach of his licence. As well as being jailed he is subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order which prevents him from approaching lone women if likely to cause fear.
Officers have carried out extensive enquiries to locate him but have failed, so are now asking the public for assistance.
Ian was last seen in Waterlooville but is believed to be on the Isle of Wight. He is described as white, medium build, 6ft 3in tall with short brown hair. He has a distinctive tattoo on the side of his neck.

Police would like remind people that anyone found to be harbouring Ian to deliberately obstruct attempts to locate him may be committing an offence and be liable for arrest themselves.
UPDATE THURSDAY – Police have confirmed that Ian Willett has been located by officers and is now back behind bars.

Please don’t blame the Police for the badly failing justice system. They have to confront, arrest and take them into custody, enduring verbal insults, being spat at, assaulted in some instances and generally being abused.
Blame the outdated laws and the Judges who pass pathetic sentences on all these pieces of filth. The Police must feel the sentences do not fit the crimes. I know I do.

Perhaps instead of rightly informing the police it could happen that some people might instead be tempted to post his whereabouts on social media, and all these violent, tough louts would, for once, do so good for society it would if it happened be hard to prove who did what if a gang dealt out a more fitting sentence.
When the Police get him again put him on one of those empty refugee planes to Rwanda.
Suggest his mug shot is put up at the festival entrance gate and hopefully he won’t go in.
