The annual Pier 2 Pier swim between Sandown and Shanklin, which was due to take place today (Saturday), has been cancelled – but not due to COVID.
Poor weather and worsening conditions have forced organisers to cancel the 1.8 mile swim across The Bay.
Heavy rain and gusty winds are hitting the Island once again for what is yet another summer washout weekend.
150 competitors were due to take part in the swim – 100 of which were travelling from the mainland.
2020’s event was also cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.
