FEARS OF PERSON TRAPPED IN CHESSELL COLLISION

policeroadclosureaccidentrtcUPDATED: Emergency services are this morning (Friday) responding to a road traffic collision on Middle Road at Chessell, where it is understood at least one person is trapped inside their vehicle. 

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service with appliances from Newport and Freshwater, paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are all in attendance having been called to the incident at just before 09:40.

The road is closed in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

UPDATE @ 10:15 – One woman has escaped with minor injuries after overturning her car at the Chessell crossroads.

The driver, the only person involved in the incident, is being assessed by paramedics.

Thankfully, the woman was able to free herself from the wreckage and did not require extricating by the fire service.

The road remains closed.

UPDATE @ 12:00 – The road has reopened. The woman did not require hospital treatment.

The vehicle has been recovered by Stag Lane Motors.
