Police and paramedics have attended a single vehicle collision in Sandown this evening (Monday).
The crash, which has seen a Vauxhall Corsa collide with a tree, occurred on Victoria Road at around 18:00.
It’s understood the driver has been checked over by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The road remains open whilst recovery is arranged.
What is it with all these vauxhall corsa crashes… swear they all automatically go into self destruct mode after 100k on the clock

So do I. I wonder if it’s already been cut down. Far too often, the poor tree gets destroyed and got rid of after some idiot driver crashes into it. Shame they couldn’t just have gone into a wall or metal railings rather than a poor living thing that, unlike them, is actually doing some good in the world.
If this is not the result of a medical incident, more bad driving on the island. Thank heaven nobody was injured. Hope the tree is ok.

My thoughts are with the tree. Another one standing at the side of the road doing a sterling job by storing carbon and giving us oxygen and yet crashed into for whatever reason!!!!.
The tree could have also erouacly saved an innocent walker passing buy, however, we are all going to pay higher insurance because of the amount of incompetence on our roads..
I see the tree has quietly gone back to stand by the side of the road, having leapt out and hit the poor unsuspecting driver.
I wonder how many of these idiots get other people to take their test for them??….or maybe the test centres have dropped their standards…
