UPDATED: Coastguard Rescue Teams from The Needles and Ventnor are this afternoon (Monday) attending an incident near to Freshwater Bay where a paraglider has collided with the cliff face.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were called to the incident at around 14:20 this afternoon following reports that paraglider had become stuck on a steep slope.
Initial indications suggest the aerial adventurer has not been seriously injured.
UPDATE @ 16:26 – A paraglider has been rescued and has amazingly escaped injury after crashing into the cliff face between Freshwater Bay and Compton.
Having lost control of the parachute, the unknown man crashed into the cliff but thankfully landed on a sloped area between two sheer drops. Unable to go in any direction, a Coastguard member was lowered over the cliff edge from Military Road and safely brought the extreme sportiest the top.
It is understood the paraglider was rescued from around 130ft down.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue were called to assist their colleagues, alongside Police.
