CCTV images are being analysed as Police continue to investigate yesterday’s burglary at The Castle Inn pub in Newport.
Cash and spirits were stolen during the break-in, which occurred sometime between 23:30 and 06:30 on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
As well as the theft of an undisclosed amount of cash and alcohol, considerable damage has been caused to the function room – although the damage is minimal to what it could have been.
Footage from the pub’s CCTV system shows a male – whose identity cannot be revealed – using a ladder.
No arrests have been made to date but Police continue to probe the incident with enquiries being conducted to find out the circumstances of what happened.
The team at The Castle Inn have said:
“As a small family run business, this is a setback we can’t afford, so we would like to find out who needs to be held accountable for the damages, any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!
“Did anyone witness anything suspicious near the pub or in the areas surrounding between the hours of 11:30pm-6:30am? If anyone has any information or thinks they saw/heard anything suspicious between these times, we urge you to please get in contact with us.

How can we provide information when we don’t have a clue what he looks like it amazes me that criminals can be protected.
What you don’t realise is this guy was just following the latest guidance from the HSE, even burglars must foot ladders these days.
And why is the face of the person blocked out -what level of stupidity is this. How are the readers expected to be able to see if they can assist the police with their enquiries, if they cannot see the face.

Blame the perverted Human rights law.
Probably in case he falls into the category of those who must always be ‘protected’. In case he’s under 18 yrs, in which case he’s regarded as a “child” (the word ‘child’ associated in many peoples minds with ‘innocence’, which is why the do gooders refer to certain louts as children) or in case he comes from what the do gooders regard as an ‘underprivileged’ and ‘disadvantaged’ home. If he comes from a decent home and it’s 1st offence, they’ll be hard on him, but if lowlife, he’ll be treated leniently. Our culture is wrong in so many ways now.

Why is his face hidden? He did the crime and should pay the price. Why protect him?

Too many comments being deleted here nowadays. It’s ridiculous. Even if someone doesn’t agree with something in a comment, it should not be removed, unless just full of swearing or threats or full of false information. At the very least, they should explain why certain comments are removed. It never used to be like this here. Don’t know why it is now, It isn’t necessary.
