Two cars have collided at an accident blackspot in Ryde this evening (Tuesday) which has prompted local residents to call for something to be done to improve safety at the junction.
A Silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black Mitsubishi L200 collided at the junction of High Park Road and Arundel Road shortly before 20:15.
It is understood the Corsa pulled out of Great Preston Road before colliding with the Mitshubishi 4×4, which was travelling from the East Hill road direction.
Thankfully, both drivers have escaped injury however have been left shaken by the incident. Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have attended the scene and checked over those involved.
Speaking to Island Echo, those living in the area have raised concerns about the road markings and signs at the 3-way junction, saying that they are not visible enough. Residents believe that this is at least the third crash in recent years, which appear to occur when nearby main roads are closed such as Great Preston Road or St John’s Road.
The road remains open this evening with Police directing traffic at the scene.
