The Isle of Wight’s only ice skating rink, Ryde Arena, is to reopen to the public for skating this weekend with 2 free sessions on offer.
Following months of repairs and alterations, the popular attraction is reopening its doors for public skating. On Saturday and Sunday there will be free skating for everyone between 11:00 and 16:00 – donations gratefully received.
Hot/cold drinks and snacks will be available to purchase as Ryde Arena Trust welcomes locals back through a new entrance, now located at the side of the building.
Tomorrow night (Friday) a disco session will be held from 19:30 until 22:30 with a special reopening price of just £2.
In a statement issued this afternoon, a spokesperson has said:
“Ryde Arena Trust, together with the ice rink staff and volunteers, have been working very hard to get the ice rink ready for reopening. Whilst there is still some work to be done, we are now able to use the ice pad and offer hire skates to the public.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience and support during what has been a very challenging time. Come down and join us this weekend and celebrate ice skating on the Isle of Wight”.
