UPDATED: Residents in a Carisbrooke estate have been terrorised for weeks by vandals resulting in thousands of pounds worth of damage to over 30 vehicles.
In total, 37 cars have been damaged in roads surrounding Carisbrooke College with tyres having been punctured with a sharp tool. Two cars have had all four tyres slashed with each tyre being on average over £50 to replace.
Insp Andy McDonald from Newport Safer Neighbourhoods Team has said:
“Thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused to cars in this small residential area. This includes a number of repeat victims who have suffered a significant financial burden because of these crimes.
“We have made house to house enquiries, but I am asking residents to be vigilant and report anything suspicious or any information relating to the incident to us.”
Island Echo understand the vandalism has been occurring for several weeks with the latest incident happening just last night. Cars parked in Kinchington Road, Nightingale Road, Westmill Street, Mountbatten Drive, Hinton Road, The Finches, Wellington Road and Purdy Road have all been targeted.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 22:36 – Island Echo has been informed that more vehicles have been targeted this evening causing further financial hardship for car owners.
The vandals have struck once again, slashing tyres as previous.
