Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 36-year-old man was assaulted by another man in Sandown last night (Friday).
The incident took place at about 22:15 on the High Street at the junction of St John’s Road.
The victim has been treated at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for minor injuries.
Officers investigating the incident are searching for a suspect who is described as tall with a large and stocky build, aged between 45-50 with short, mousey brown hair. He was wearing a dark red jumper/hoodie and dark trousers.
The suspect is said to have been with a woman at the time of the incident. She is described as aged in her 40s, around 5ft 8″ tall and of large build. Her hair is possibly blonde and was being worn in a ponytail. She was wearing dark trousers with a pink frilly top.
Those at the scene have told Police that someone took a photograph of the suspect. Police need to identify this witness – he was not involved in the assault but officers would like him to come forward.
