Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council are working with local contractor NDL Electrical Ltd to provide this year’s Christmas lights and the decision has mean made to extend it to entries from young people across the whole Island.
As a way of including the community in the festivities, NCCC have launched a competition for young people to design their own lamppost decoration to be in with a chance of having it made in real life.
There will be 3 age categories and a winner chosen from each. The categories are 4-11 years, 12-15 years and 16-19 years. These 3 winners will have their designs made by NDL Electrical Ltd and displayed throughout Newport.
Cllr Geoff Brodie, Chair of the Community Council said:
“This is a wonderful opportunity for local, young people to have their creation lit up in lights on our High Street. I look forward to seeing the entries and hope there will be lots of them.”
The entry form can be found on the Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council website at www.newportwight.org.uk and will be sent to local schools.
Completed forms must be sent to Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council, The Loft, 128 Pyle St, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1JW or a scanned copy sent to [email protected]
Please note that entries must be submitted by 30th September.
