Carisbrooke Road – the main road connecting Newport with Carisbrooke – is to be closed from 18:30 tonight (Monday).
Dyno Rod are set to carry out emergency works to a sewer connection outside number 83, resulting in the road – more commonly known as The Mall – being closed in both directions.
The closure will be in force for a length of 179 metres between Bedford Row and Trafalgar Road.
The diversion will affect Trafalgar Road, New Street, High Street, Pyle Street and West Street.
UPDATE – The road is expected to remain closed overnight and into rush hour tomorrow morning.
UPDATE TUESDAY – The road remains closed this morning. Motorists should allow extra travel time.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 13:42 – Carisbrooke Road/The Mall has now re-opened in both directions.
