Cowes Enterprise College has announced the appointment of Paul Slaughter as its new Executive Principal.
Paul will join the school from Ormiston Six Villages Academy in Chichester, where he has served as Principal since 2018. From September, he will take on the role of Executive Principal across both schools, providing strategic leadership and building on the strong foundations already in place.
Paul brings significant leadership experience and a strong track record of improving outcomes within Ormiston Academies Trust. Since joining Six Villages Academy, he has led its transformation into a school of choice within the local community, with consistently strong Ofsted outcomes. He has driven improvements across academic performance, behaviour, safeguarding and pastoral care, and is passionate about ensuring academic excellence sits alongside a strong focus on the pastoral development of all students.
Vice Principal Vicky Wells will continue to lead the school throughout the summer term, working closely with the senior leadership team and the Trust to ensure continuity and a smooth transition.
The Trust will shortly begin the recruitment process for a new Head of School to further enhance leadership arrangements, with the intention of making an appointment for September.
The academy remains well led and fully supported, with a clear focus on delivering the best possible outcomes for all students.
Paul Slaughter, Incoming Executive Principal at Cowes Enterprise College, said:
“I am delighted to be taking on the role of Executive Principal at Cowes Enterprise College and to be working more closely with the school.
“There is a strong team in place and a clear commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for students. I am looking forward to working with staff, students and families to build on this and continue the positive momentum at the school.”
Paul Hyde, Education Director for the West Region at Ormiston Academies Trust, said:
“Paul is a highly experienced and respected leader, and we are delighted to appoint him as Executive Principal.
“The school is in a strong position, with a committed leadership team and clear support from the Trust. We would like to thank Vicky Wells and colleagues for their ongoing work to ensure continuity and a positive experience for students.
“We are confident that, with Paul’s leadership, the school will continue to build on its strengths and deliver the best possible outcomes for its community.”
The leadership change comes as long-standing Principal, Rachel Kitley, took on a prestigious new role with Ofsted in April.
