The award is awarded to an owner/operator of a travel business that has been operating for 3 years or more whose vision will inspire other women to start their own enterprise.
Karen formed In2action some 15 years ago to design and deliver outstanding active-family holiday concepts. Karen entered the industry in her 20’s and was passionate about the positive impact she could make on young peoples’ lives as an activity instructor. Since then, she has grown In2action from the kitchen table to a £3.4million turnover; providing services to global blue-chip leisure companies.
Karen has mentored and empowered a skilled UK team of 12 women and 6 men who successfully recruit, train and manage teams and operations around the world.
Karen Gill MBE, Co-Founder, everywoman, comments:
“Our research shows that access to female role models is a major source of inspiration for 74% of women, who cite them as inspiration to develop their own careers**. This is why visible female talent is essential in all industries – you can’t be what you can’t see. The travel industry has traditionally been a huge employer of women, but this is still not being reflected at a senior level. We firmly believe that by showcasing the success stories of this year’s winners, we can effect real change, encouraging women to progress in their careers and achieve their ambitions.”
Thomas Tudehop, Head of Public Affairs, Revolut Ltd, comments:
“Revolut is thrilled to be supporting the 2019 everywoman in Travel awards and to have celebrated its inspiring winners today. These individuals have demonstrated a passion for the industry, as well as a dedication to building a dynamic and diverse workforce. At a time of global challenges and industry change, it has never been more important to recognise those who are continuing to adapt and build successful organisations that provide employment to millions.”
