21-year-old Ryan Hopewell has been jailed for 71 weeks for the abuse he inflicted on 2 women between 2020 and 2022, with the most recent incident occurring on 5th May this year.
Hopewell, of Sun Hill in Cowes, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday (1oth June) where he received a lengthy sentence from Judge Richard Parkes.
The 21-year-old attacked two women — committing 1 count of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm, 3 counts of assault by beating, and 1 count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm – with 1 of the victims involved – the mother of his child.
Following his sentencing, acting Detective Sergeant Iain Robertson said:
“Domestic violence is an awful crime which sees people often psychologically and physically abused in their own home, a place where they should feel safe, and perpetrated by people who should ensure their safety.
“Hopewell is a particularly nasty and violent individual who embarked on a sustained campaign of violence against two women.
“One of the women suffered a fractured eye socket and a cut on her foot from broken glass as a result of one of his violent episodes.
“His behaviour was utterly shocking and he has rightfully been imprisoned because of these crimes.

I hope this case sends a message to our communities that we will never tolerate domestic abuse, and we will do all we can to work with victims and bring perpetrators to justice.”
71 weeks for those injuries given to the two women. Should be years. With his mentality he will see the sentence as a badge of honour! Has really evil looking eyes one to definitely steer clear of.
Also, as he will be classed as a vulnerable adult he will be protected from all the “normal” prison population, as he will be banged up with all the other wife beaters and rapist.
So not much of a punishment at all.

71 weeks! Is that to try & make it sound like a long time? It’s just 16 months, let’s not think that is any form of punishment. He’ll do less than half of that, loving life with no money worries or wondering where his next meal is coming from, no responsibilities, spending his days playing console games.
