A ‘nasty and violent’ domestic abuser, who changed his plea to guilty upon seeing his victims in court yesterday (Monday), is to be sentenced in March. 35-year-old Robert Church appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday (22nd January) charged with 4 counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 2 counts of burglary after perpetrating crimes against a woman and a teenage girl. At around 04:00 on 7th July last year, the woman – aged in her 30s – was awoken by loud banging on the front door of her address in Ryde. The door was then kicked off its hinges and Church entered the address where he assaulted the woman and threw items from the kitchen all over the floor. After leaving the address briefly, he returned and assaulted a teenage girl. In a separate incident, in the early hours of the morning on 1st October, Church attended the address again where he began behaving aggressively towards both victims and punched the teenage girl in the face. The woman and the teenager were able to barricade themselves in a bedroom before Church burst in and began causing damage throughout the address. Following this, he punched the woman in the face causing a deep cut above her eyebrow. Church was subsequently arrested and charged with the 6 offences, which he initially denied. The case went to trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court yesterday but upon seeing 1 of his victims in court, Church changed his pleas to guilty on all charges. He has now been remanded in custody to appear at the same court for sentencing on 8th March. DC Ashlea Butt has said:
“Church is a nasty and violent abuser of women and girls who has now been brought to justice for this terrible pattern of offending. “The bravery of the victims in this case for speaking out and facing up to him has resulted in a dangerous man being removed from the streets and remanded into custody. “We take allegations of domestic abuse very seriously and will do all we can to target perpetrators, and offer support to those affected.”

Lock him up and throw away the key.
Prison is unliky to sort this person out; where do you even start?
Red Jet.stop half way, and disembark the creep!
He’s no man. He’s the sort of person who should be removed from society. A weak little thug with no moral compass. I feel for his victims and hope he’s locked away for a long time. Sterilise him would be a good starting point so he can’t pass on his flawed genes.
Well done to the victims of this terrible crime you must of been so strong to go to the police and face this complete a*”‘ hole. Hope you can find your way forward from these despicable crimes. You are stronger than you think
Takes a certain type of bully to be violent to women who are less likely to fight back. Some prison time with loads of men should allow him to get some perspective.
Except prisons are full of “men” like him and even worse.
“prisons are full of “men” like him”
well then they can while away their time “abusing” each other …..
If word gets out amongst the general populace in nick……his life will be a living hell, and rightly so. They hate those “in” for harming Women and Children .
As my friend Mr justice would say, ” a small piece of lead, fired at great speed, in the direction of this excuse of a human, will solve all future problems for society “
Dump him in the Solent.
Bully, woman beater. Yup, he’s well hard, Not embarssment.to mankind. Certainly not a man.
