UPDATED: A motorcycle and a Land Rover 4×4 have collided near Binstead this morning (Tuesday), resulting in traffic delays in both directions.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, with reports suggesting that part of the rear axle of the Land Rover has parted from the vehicle.
The red scooter has become wedged under the front of the white Land Rover Defender, however damage has been sustained to the rear of the 4×4, which has come to a stop on the wrong side of the road.
Police and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are in attendance at the incident, however no one is believed to have been seriously injured.
UPDATE @ 10:14 – Quarr Hill has been closed in both directions by Police.
Motorists are being diverted via Newnham Road and Havenstreet, which is unsuitable for large vehicles.
UPDATE @ 10:45 – Police have confirmed that Quarr Hill is due to reopen shortly once both vehicles have been recovered.
No one has been injured in the collision.
UPDATE @ 11:07 – The incident has now been cleared and road has reopened in both directions.
Island Echo understands the rear wheel of the Land Rover came off the vehicle, causing the Land Rover to lose control.
