Supporters of local charity ‘The Wight Brainy Bunch’ gathered at GG’s Bar & Restaurant earlier this month (1st November) for a spectacular Moonlit Masquerade Ball, which raised over £5,000 to help Island families affected by brain tumours.
The elegant black-tie event saw 240 guests arrive in dazzling masks and evening wear to enjoy fine food, live entertainment and fundraising, with all proceeds going directly to support the charity’s ongoing work across the Isle of Wight.
Live performances from Andy Hicks, Spike Oatley, Spammy Oatis, and The Strand created the perfect atmosphere, keeping guests entertained throughout the night.
Founded by Mark and Kathryn Grimes after Mark’s own diagnosis with a brain tumour in 2015, The Wight Brainy Bunch provides financial assistance, emotional support, and raises awareness of brain tumours — the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK.
“We were absolutely delighted with the success of the evening. It was a truly magical night, and we’re so grateful to everyone who attended, donated prizes, and helped make the event such a wonderful success Kathryn Grimes, founder of the Wight Brainy Bunch.
“Guests were welcomed with a sparkling drinks reception, followed by a delicious 2-course dinner, with GG’s providing the perfect venue, which was transformed into a stunning setting befitting the Moonlit Masquerade theme.”
The charity extended heartfelt thanks to GG’s Bar & Restaurant for their outstanding hospitality and support, to Morgans Catering for the superb food, and to all the local businesses and individuals who generously donated prizes to make the evening such a success.
