2 men are being sought by Police after a car was badly damaged in Binstead last night (Thursday) – in what is thought to be a case of mistaken identity.
It was at around 23:45 that residents on Parkway, near Verwood Drive, were startled to hear loud noises coming from outside, on what is usually a very quiet residential estate.
One resident thought the common was fireworks being let off. In fact, it was 2 males using a metal bar – possibly golf clubs – to smash in the windows of an elderly individual’s car.
The VW has had 6 windows completely smashed, as well as significant damage caused to the windscreen and some bodywork.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“At 12.15am this morning we received a report that windows of a car parked in Parkway, Ryde, had been smashed by persons unknown.
“Enquiries are ongoing”.
Anyone with information – including those with doorbell or CCTV footage from the local area – should call Police on 101, quoting reference 44250146184.
Islandwide CCTV would help STOP Numpty’s
breaking the law.
