UPDATED: The body of a woman in her 50s, who was reported missing last night, has been discovered floating in the sea just off of a Shanklin beach this morning.
Concerned relatives alerted Police about their worries for the woman’s safety late last night.
Her car was later found at a notorious suicide spot, Culver Cliff, at around 02:00.
The woman’s body was discovered floating in the sea at around 07:00 this morning and was recovered by specialist teams.
The Sandown-Shanklin Revetment has since reopened after it was closed for a short period.
UPDATED 12:00 THURSDAY: The identity of the woman found on Monday has been confirmed as Sharon Louise Barker, also known as Sharon Attrill, 53, of Joseph’s Way, Shanklin.
A post mortem concluded her cause of death was multiple fractures and injuries.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
