MINDLESS VANDALISM COSTS ISLAND FIRM

ventnortrafficlightsVANDALS put lives in danger last night when they targeted a set of temporary traffic lights in Ventnor.

A set of expensive mobile lights supplied by Island firm DTM were damaged in the incident at Newport Road on the outskirts of the town.

Bosses at Docklands Traffic Management are now facing a hefty repair bill and have had to spend their Sunday morning replacing the set to allow the road to be safely remain open.

A spokesperson for the company told Island Echo: “Imagine if the vandalism caused a traffic fatality…scary”.

Roadworks to repair the severely sloped road near to the fish and chip shop means that one side of the carriageway is blocked, requiring a traffic light system to allow cars to pass safely.
