Detectives on the Isle of Wight are this week investigating a shocking and rare incident of home invasion after masked burglars entered a property in Lake before threatening the home owner.
Three unknown men are being sought by Police after entering the home of a man on Lea Road, Lake just before 19:00 on Monday. The suspects, described as youths, rummaged through the bedroom of the property whilst one of the three demanded cash from the shocked man. However, the trio ran from the scene shortly after.
Hampshire Constabulary say the suspects are aged between 16-20 years of age – one is said to have blue eyes and freckles and is around 5ft 6″ tall, whilst the second youth is said to be slightly shorter. The third has been described as around 6ft tall and of mixed race origin.
Detective Constable Jess Hughes from Newport CID, said:
“This kind of incident is very unusual on the Isle of Wight and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time it happened.
“We’d also like to hear from anyone who has any other information about the crime.”
