A man who videoed himself walking around a property he was trespassing on has been sentenced to 6 months in custody.
Craig Whitewood-Khan, 45, of Lower Hyde Park in Shanklin, pleaded guilty to 1 count of burglary dwelling and theft and 1 count of failing to surrender to court when he appeared in front of Magistrates via video link from HMP Winchester today (Friday).
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that on 28th June 2022 Whitewood-Khan made his way to a property on Shanklin Road, Godshill that was undergoing building works.
Noticing the door was open, the 45-year-old proceeded to video himself walking through the house commenting that he wasn’t breaking in and that he was looking at the property as he wished to buy it.
After ending the video, which he sent to a friend, Whitewood-Khan then proceeded to walk around the property placing all photos around the home faced down. He then took and ate some food from the freezer before washing it down with some champagne.
After consuming around 1/2 a bottle of the alcohol, Whitewood-Khan then went to sleep upstairs.
Later on, the gardener of the property noticed a back-scratcher in an unusual place and alerted the Police, with officers finding Whitewood-Khan asleep inside when they arrived.
The 2nd charge put to the 45-year-old was of failing to surrender to court after Whitewood-Khan failed to attend his 26th August hearing without reasonable excuse.
Defending himself, Whitewood-Khan said that upon seeing the overgrown garden and open door, he entered what he believed was an empty property – believing that the occupant had passed away.
The qualified hypnotherapist added that he’d walked around 1.5 miles to the property and that it had made him hungry, thirsty and tired, saying that the champagne caused him to fall asleep as he wasn’t a regular drinker.
Regarding his failure to show up to court in August, the 45-year-old cited a communication error.
Magistrates handed Craig Whitewood-Khan a 6-month prison sentence.

Fell asleep on half a bottle of spirits?
lightweight
yay ! don’t want types like that walking around !!
AND WHO THE **** ARE YOU !
Are you a judge or magistrate, police officer or prison/probation officer or docter ?
Or another sheep/keyboard warrior/sad sack/virgin ?
Ehm, I mean, do YOU, Alamo, want strangers to come into your house and sleep in your bed just because you left the door open for building works?
Because I for one don’t and would say I don’t want such people walking around here either.
What triggered you so much?
He’s probably fuming rn that Goldilocks ate all his porridge
Injustice and the judicial system generally.
IF IT WAS A FEMALE, IT WOULD BE IN A WOMANS REFUGE, BUT AS IT IS A BLOKE, STRAIGHT IN PRISON, with know help from the docters….ect.
Not rocket Pomy, just means the magistrates were in a bad mood that ONE day.
For once a fitting sentence. We don’t want such beings invading people’s property. It clearly knew that it was an occupied home for food would have given that information.
And what a disgusting person to take advantage of someones property IF the likely lying low life really thought the owner had died.
Needs putting down or in an asylum I would suggest.
My arse the door was open. He opened it, then being the idiot he was, thought that if he could film it making it look like he found it that way. Didn’t help did it. What a door knob.
YES YOU ARE, ARE’NT YOU !……..yawn.
stupid c*nts should have locked the door then
retards
BIT OTT SENTENCE, COMPARED TO WHAT OTHER LOW LIFE GET ?
Don’t you know about the word???
Goldilocks came to mind
That’s quite a novel way to survey a house.
Bird bird bird turf turf turf
So you get six months for trespass and helping yourself to food and lodgings in someone else’s property but nothing save a slap on the wrist for repeatedly stabbing someone in the head with a chisel? Wth is wrong with the judicial system??
Beggars belief!
‘the gardener of the property noticed a back-scratcher in an unusual place’ … hmm, a sure sign of something being amiss!
Smoke weed every day
Certainly not his first offence.
That wasn’t just trespassing.
He was not homeless and did not need to enter the property. It was clear breach of privacy to the home owner, what if someone was at home? How frightening it would be. Why turn down the photo frames too? Perhaps he needs a psychological assessment.
