A man who told his ex-girlfriend that he was going to ‘cut her throat’ and caused thousands of pounds of damage to her car, pleaded guilty at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Friday).
Brian Samuel, 35, of St David’s Road, East Cowes pleaded guilty to 1 count of criminal damage, 1 of sending by public network an offensive message and 1 charge of obstructing an officer in the execution of their duty.
Liz Miller – prosecuting – told the court that on the 5th of March, Samuel had tried to return a pair of trousers to his ex-partner’s, before getting into an argument at the front door and eventually leaving the property.
Samuel then kicked over the bins outside the address before dealing significant damage to the woman’s car including smashing the front window, cracking the panoramic roof and breaking the wing mirror of the white Fiat 500 – amounting to £3,404 of damage. He also caused damage to the front door of her property.
The next day he was seen outside the house again screaming and shouting calling the woman a ‘dirty slut’ and a ‘brat’.
When Police were called Samuel became agitated and was goading the two arresting officers into becoming violent towards him.
During proceedings the court heard he had texted the woman saying ‘Watch out, I’ll break everything’ and ‘I’ll message your mum’ as well as threatening to kill her by cutting her throat.
The case was adjourned to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled. Samuel will appear back in court for sentencing on the 15th July.
