A Newport man who allegedly sent malicious calls and messages to a woman, including saying that he would burn her house down, has pleaded not guilty to a malicious communications charge.
Drew Whittaker, 20, of Carisbrooke Road in Newport pleaded not guilty to 1 count of sending malicious communications when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday.
It is alleged that on Thursday last week (13th October), Whittaker sent threatening messages to a girl with which he was previously in a relationship with. He was arrested on Thursday and put before the court on Friday morning.
Asked in which court the 20-year-old would like to see his trial heard, Whittaker replied saying the Crown Court.
As a result, Whittaker was bailed unconditionally and will appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 14th November.
