UPDATED: Police have removed a man from the railway track in Sandown this evening (Sunday), an incident which has brought the Island Line train service to a halt.
Power was cut to the entire network at around 18:00 after a man was spotted laying on the line in a ‘drunken’ state.
Although the individual has now been removed from the tracks, the train service remains suspended whilst power is reinstated between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin.
A train with passengers on board is currently stranded just outside of Sandown station.
UPDATE @ 18:55 – 1 male has been arrested by Police and is being taken into custody at Newport Police Station.
Meanwhile power has been restored to the network and the stranded train has now arrived at Sandown, allowing passengers to disembark.
