UPDATED: Police have closed part of Pyle Street in Newport this evening (Wednesday) after a man was tasered following a domestic incident involving a stabbing.
One male, who started smashing glass and becoming aggressive after receiving a stab wound to the abdomen, has been tasered by officers at 61 Pyle Street, behind BHS. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 17:00.
It is currently unclear if the stab wound was self-inflicted or not.
The road has been closed and a cordon set up.
UPDATE @ 18:30 – Pyle Street has now reopened, although a cordon remains in place surrounding the property.
Island Roads have attend the scene to clear debris from the carriageway.
UPDATE @ 19:25 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
No one has been seriously injured in the incident and no other arrests have been made.
Police have now left the scene.
