2 people sustained minor injuries in a fight that broke out between a group of people in Newport on Friday night. Police were called at 23:54 on 17th May to reports of an altercation between a group of people on St James’ Street, near to the Londis store. Officers were deployed to the town centre, where they located a man in his 20s and a woman in her 40s, who both reported minor injuries. Island Echo is told that 1 of the victims was kicked several times whilst on the floor. Enquiries into the circumstances of this incident are ongoing, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary says. No arrests have been made at the current time.
