A man in his 30s that walked into a Sandown corner shop with a badly gashed eye has been taken to hospital this afternoon (Thursday).
Emergency services, including multiple Police units and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, were called to the Premier shop on the junction of The Broadway and Station Avenue shortly after 15:00, as reported first by Island Echo.
It is understood the gentleman walked into the shop and asked the customer assistant to call for an ambulance.
It is currently unclear how the man sustained his injury, which is being treated at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this evening. It is believe the incident was that of a domestic nature.
