The main road through Havenstreet has been closed to allow for emergency repair works by Southern Water.
Island Roads advise that an emergency closure notice has been granted for Havenstreet Main Road, which is now closed between Firestone Copse Road and Combley Road.
Engineers are repairing a water main in the area.
It’s unknown when the road is likely to reopen but Southern Water have a maximum of 5 days.
Motorists are having to divert via The Downs or Wootton.
