A main route into Ryde is blocked this morning (Tuesday) following a collision between a pedestrian and a car.
Police and paramedics were first called to the scene at around 08:15 following reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Binstead Road.
Island Echo understands that the pedestrian has walked out in front of a Lexus that was turning onto the main road.
Luckily, the injuries sustained by the pedestrian are believed to be minor with the casualty involved being treated in the back of an ambulance.
The road is currently blocked outside The Binstead Arms, with traffic backed up in both directions.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
UPDATE @ 09:00 – The incident has been cleared.
Binstead Road is open once again.

20MPH Speed Limits needs putting in place
Everyday there are loads of unnesseccary accidents.
oh here we go again…..
you’re really sounding like a stuck record now,…
‘Island Echo understands that the pedestrian has walked out in front of a Lexus that was turning onto the main road.’
Looks like it had nothing to do with speeding
You really do spout some rubbish. Read the damned story instead of presuming that speed is always the cause. The driver was pulling our of a junction, enlighten me as to how a 20MPH limit would have any impact on this situation.
Walk out in front of a car at 20 mph, you get knocked over.
