UPDATED: Church Road in Shanklin – the main road between Shanklin and Ventnor – has been closed for emergency roadworks this afternoon (Monday).
Motorists are having to divert via Whiteley Bank and Wroxall as a result of the closure, which is blocking the road outside Holliers in the Old Village.
Southern Vectis’ Route 3 buses are diverting from Trinity Church, back to Wroxall and through Whiteley Bank towards Shanklin.
Island Roads are yet to issue an official notice about the closure, which came into force sometime before 13:00.
UPDATE @ 15:07 – It has been confirmed that works are being carried out by Cappagh Browne on behalf of Southern Water.
It has been indicated that the road will be re-open by 17:00 tonight.
UPDATE @ 16:57 – Church Road has now re-opened in both directions.
Southern Vectis buses are returning to a normal route.
