UPDATED: Divers are this afternoon (Sunday) working to refloat a luxury motorboat that has sunk at Bembridge Marina within Bembridge Harbour.
The vessel, estimated to be around 35ft in length, is believed to have sunk at some point overnight or early this morning. It remains unclear what caused the £300,000 boat to go under.
Island-based salvage teams are using air flotation devices to raise the boat and assess any damage.
HM Coastguard have been informed of the incident. No pollution has been reported.
It is thought the vessel is owned by a family with a holiday home in the area.
UPDATE @ 15:57 – Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are now on scene and are liasing with the Marina manager and the salvage team.
Investigations are underway as to how the vessel sunk, with one line of enquiry being that it was hit by another boat.
