4-way temporary traffic lights on one of the busiest roads on the Isle of Wight are causing traffic chaos in Ryde this lunchtime (Thursday).
Motorists travelling in and out of Ryde on Brading Road are stuck in slow-moving queues due to works by Southern Water at the roundabout directly outside Tesco and Busy Bee Garden Centre.
Shoppers at the Tesco Extra store say they have been queueing for more than 20 minutes to exit the car park, describing the situation as ridiculous. The car park has quite literally become a car park for those trying to head home.
There are tailbacks in all other directions too, with vehicles backed up along Marlborough Road and Great Preston Road, and down Beaper Shute.
It is unclear as to how long the temporary lights will be in place.
UPDATE @ 13:15 – The temporary lights have been removed and traffic flow is back to usual.
I thought it was the usual gridlock due to the
Numpty’s going into McDonald’s
(NOTHING GETS DONE ABOUT THAT)
Lol
