Lake Parish Council has paid tribute to Councillor Bette Young following her retirement at the Council’s recent Annual Meeting.
The meeting, held for the first time at the new venue known as the Meeting Place next to the New Road Public Space, also saw the return and appointment of other Parish Councillors.
Council Chair Paul Brading said:
“The Council are sorry that Bette is retiring, as she helped establish the Warm Space in Lake, contributed to our Covid support projects, and was very much a part of replacing public facilities at New Road and Lake Cliff Gardens, as well as re-opening Slipway Toilets.”
Councillor Young, who has served the community through several key initiatives, expressed her thanks and ongoing support.
Bette said:
“Thanks to Paul and the team, it has been a pleasure and privilege serving the residents of Lake, and I will continue to keep an interest in all of the plans the Council have to maintain and improve the Parish.”
To mark her retirement, Councillor Brading presented Bette with a bouquet of flowers.
He concluded:
“We are very grateful for all that Bette has given to Lake, and we will miss her guidance and her enthusiasm.”
