Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat is this evening assisting Solent Coastguard in the search for a kite surfer off of Culver Cliff in Sandown.
The independent lifeboat is understood to have been paged by HM Coastguard control shortly before 17:00 after a member of the public, who was watching from the shore, saw a Kite Surfer in difficulties off of Yaverland Beach.
UPDATE @ 18:26: The kite surfer has been located safe and well on the shore by rescue teams, albeit cold and embarrassed.
