Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat ‘Norman Harvey’ (D-778) was launched at the request of Solent Coastguard at just before 21:00 last night (Saturday).
The volunteer crew and their D-class lifeboat were tasked to assist the 23ft Angling Boat ‘Scorpio’ – with 2 crew on board – that had run aground just inside Bembridge Harbour on a falling tide.
The ‘Norman Harvey’ was quickly on scene but was unable to tow ‘Scorpio’ back into the deeper water of the channel.
Having checked the crew were safe and having assisted laying an anchor, the inshore lifeboat returned to Lane End and was recovered by 21:45.
