This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 6th December – Friday 10th December 2021
• Alex Cooper, 23, of George Street in Ryde, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge, to be paid by in instalments of £20.
• Valerie Seabright, 72, of Terrace Lane in Freshwater, pleaded guilty to drink driving. She was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £672 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £67 surcharge.
• Daniel David Kilshaw, 40, of no fixed abode, was made subject to a 12-month community order with a 9-month drug rehabilitation requirement after pleading guilty to possession of a Class A drug. He was also ordered to complete 30 rehabilitation days and pay a surcharge of £95 with costs of £85. A previous community order was revoked.
• Kye Malin, 32, of Stower Place in Sandown, pleaded guilty to drug driving. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge.
• Samantha Marshall, 36, of Slade Road in Ryde, pleaded guilty to using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence. She also pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment/alarm/distress by words/writing. She was made subject to a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days attached. Marshall was also ordered to pay £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Lee Challis, 39, of Oakvale in Ryde, pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay costs of £85, to be paid in £20 instalments.
• Dean Brett, 45, of Priory Drive in Nettlestone, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was disqualified from driving for 29 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £95 surcharge.
• Jonathan White, 35, of Hilton Road in Gurnard, pleaded guilty to failing to stop and failing to provide. He was disqualified from driving for 30 months and made subject to a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £95 surcharge.
• Nathan Hobbs, 27, care of Argyll Road in Newport, pleased guilty to common assault and criminal damage. He was given a 12-week custodial sentence and ordered to pay £200 compensation.
• Lee Critchley, 40, of Broadway Crescent in Binstead, pleaded guilty to drug driving. He was banned from the roads for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
