This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 25th April – Friday 29th April 2022
• Maxine Bennett, 47, of Wheelers Bay in Ventnor, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class B drug (amphetamine) and possession of a Class B drug (cannabis). She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Matthew Oxley, 35, of Green Street in Ryde, pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to bail. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge. He also pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis, but the case has been adjourned for a pre-sentence report.
• Jordan Gammon, 24, of Fort Street in Sandown, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and failing to surrender to bail. He was handed a 6-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £300 compensation
• Mathew Dyer, 37, of Newport Road in Cowes, changed his plea to guilty for 2 charges of assault by beating and harassment without violence. He was made subject to a 12-month restraining order and a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation days attached. He was also fined £80 and ordered to pay £300 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Simon Hearn, 45, of Atherfield Road, Atherfield pleaded guilty to harassment without violence. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work, as well as a 12-month restraining order. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Joanne Tuckey, 52, of Nelson Road in Newport, was found guilty of criminal damage and possession of a Class B drug – cannabis. She was fined £60 and ordered to pay £157.60 compensation, as well as £310 costs. The monies are to be paid by means of £20 instalments.
• Luke Spary, 27, of Worsley Road in Newport, pleaded guilty to drink driving (111). He was disqualified from driving for 26 months and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, as well as paying £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Brian Bailey, 45, of Clatterford Road in Newport, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knuckleduster. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85.
• Xavier Lutaaya-Malokweza, 41, of Shore Road in Bonchurch, was disqualified from driving for 6 months, fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge for the offence of speeding on the A30 in Cornwall.
• Martin James Hall, 34, of Wellesley Way in Newport, was found guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting words/behaviour with intent to causing harassment, alarm or distress. He was fined £180 and ordered to pay £217 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• Elizabeth Smith, 35, care of Lane End Close in Bembridge, was found guilty of assault by beating. She was fined £180 and ordered to pay £217 costs with a £34 surcharge.
• William James Worrell, 35, of Newport Road in Cowes, was found guilty of criminal damage. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation and costs of £217.
• Billy Paul West, 51, of Nancy Road in Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined £107 and ordered to pay costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge.
