LATEST CASES AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT MAGISTRATES COURT (22ND NOVEMBER – 26TH NOVEMBER 2021)

This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 22nd November – Friday 26th November 2021

Michael Davis, 47, of Atherley Road in Shanklin, was found guilty of drug driving. He was given a 12-month driving disqualification, fined £120 and ordered to pay £620 costs with a £34 surcharge.

Michael Bunce, 43, of Sunset Close in Freshwater, pleaded guilty to 2 charges of theft from a shop. He was given a 12-month community order and a 6-week curfew, as well as being ordered to pay £30 compensation and £85 costs.

• Paul Symonds, 40, of The Chandlers, Cowes admitted breaching the requirements of a community order. His original community order was revoked and he was re-sentenced and committed to 6 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay costs of £60 and made subject to a 6-week curfew.

Darren John Stride, 45, of Manor Road in Lake, pleaded guilty to 11 charges of theft from a shop and 1 charge of going equipped. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 130 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days attached. he was also ordered to pay £799 compensation, as well as costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge.

Emma Stafford, 41, of Medeway in Lake, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress. She was fined a total of £390 and handed a 12-month restraining order.

Rachel Hewitt, 38, of Angelica Grove in Newport, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. She was ordered to pay £227.95 compensation, a £120 fine and costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge.

Rachael Dixey, 37, of Manor Crescent in Newport, admitted theft from a shop. She was ordered to pay £30 compensation and was given a 12-month conditional discharge. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs with a £22 surcharge.
