This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 10th October – Friday 14th September 2022
• Tyler John Cairns, 27, of Albert Road in Cowes, was sentenced to 3 months in prison after committing a further offence whilst on a suspended sentence – namely 2 counts of assault by beating and 1 count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
• Alexander Cooper, 24, of George Street in Ryde, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a community order. The order was revoked and resentenced to a new 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days.
• Rodney Phillip Travis, 39, of West Street in Newport, was fined £80 for the commission of a further offence whilst subject to a conditional discharge – namely 2 counts of possession of a Class A drug.
• Rodney Travis, 39, of West Street, Newport pleaded guilty to possession of a Class C drug (Etizolam). He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Rosalinde Pitcher, 29, of Monkton Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control (bulldog, no injury), being carried in a motor vehicle taken within the owners’ consent and possession of a Class B drug (Ketamine). She was banned from owning a dog for 2 years, fined £70 and ordered to pay £135 compensation, as well as being made subject to a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation days. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Alex Cooper, 24, of George Street, Ryde, pleaded guilty to 4 counts of theft from a shop. He was ordered to pay £65 compensation and was made subject to a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation days.
• Aaran Wood, 30, of The Brambles, Newchurch, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress. He was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £26 surcharge.
• Jason Blake, 36, of Newport Road, Cowes, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £27 compensation with £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
• Rianne Donna Galloway, 24, of Cedar Hill in Carisbrooke, admitted breaching the requirements of a community order. Her community order was revoked and she was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. She was ordered to pay £60 costs.
• Rachel Hewitt, 39, of Angelica Grove in Newport, admitted breaching the requirements of a community order. Her order was varied to include a total of 15 rehabilitation days. She was ordered to pay £30 costs.
Warrants for arrest issued
These individuals failed to appear in court on the specified date. A warrant was issued for their arrest. This list will not be updated as to whether the warrant has been satisfied.
• Malcolm Mattin, 69, of Rembrandt Drive, Gravesend, Kent for assault by beating, common assault, racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress – words/writing and 2 counts of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/provoke unlawful violence
