UPDATED: Fire crews are in attendance at a block of flats in Ventnor this evening (Thursday) where a small kitchen top appliance has caught fire.
Crews from Ryde, Shanklin and Ventnor were mobilised to Knights Court in the centre of town at 19:30 following a 999 call informing them of a cooker fire.
The incident has been brought under control and the appliance – similar to a microwave – has been removed from the building.
1 appliance from Ventnor remains in attendance at the scene awaiting the arrival of paramedics due to a female resident suffering from chest pains.
UPDATE – The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are now attending to the woman with chest pains.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have stood down from the incident.
