In the only Wessex League game to be played on the Isle of Wight today (Saturday), in Wessex Division 1, Newport take on Ash United at the Zilch Waste Stadium.
The two sides have already clashed this season, with Ash winning the corresponding fixture 3-1 back in August of last year.
Port – who currently occupy 7th spot in the table – saw their 11-game unbeaten run end last Saturday with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of playoff place rivals Cove. However, the County Town club returned to good form midweek with a 0-4 win away to 2nd-from-bottom Totton & Eling.
18th-placed Ash United have taken 6 points from their last 6 games.
Newport are currently 5 points below the playoff places with a game in hand over 5th-placed club Cove, who they play on Tuesday.
In the Wessex Premier, 14th-placed Cowes Sports travel to 11th-placed Hamworthy Recreation.

The 2 sides played the corresponding fixture only on Thursday, with Hamworthy Rec beating the Yachtsmen 0-2 at the Zilch Waste Stadium.
Manager Mark Woodhouse believes exhaustion will affect his players, with his team having been playing 3 times a week.
Woody said:
“Backing up 4 games in a week is tough. We will just have to see how many players we can actually get out on the grass. It wouldn’t happen at the pro level.”
Also in the Wessex Premier, 13th-placed East Cowes Vics travel to 3rd-placed Portland United.
Vics have been on a miserable run of 4 successive defeats since beating Hamble at the start of the month.
