ISLAND’S FIREFIGHTERS THANKED BY THE NHS FOR EFFORTS DURING COVID PANDEMIC

Published:

Firefighters across the Isle of Wight have been thanked by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Between January and March, a team of 20 personnel from Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service – as it was – trained and worked as ambulance drivers, due to increased demand on Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

Their hard work and dedication has now resulted in them receiving a Chief Executive’s award from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, in recognition for the vital role they played.

The award was made for ‘delivering an outstanding service and for going above and beyond’.

Firefighters have been helping out in other ways during the pandemic, including 10 being seconded to work as vaccinators.
