Island Echo’s official Christmas lights competition, Light up the Wight, will be featured on BBC’s The One Show TONIGHT (Friday), bringing the Isle of Wight’s festive spirit to a national audience of over 2million.
Now in its 10th year, Light up the Wight showcases the best home and community Christmas light displays across the Isle of Wight. Backed by Southern Vectis, residents compete for a share of the prize fund while helping to keep the festive tradition alive.
Presenter Angellica Bell visited the Isle of Wight at the start of this year’s competition, joining the Island Echo team and Southern Vectis aboard the decorated tour bus for a night of filming across the Island.
Stops included Sandown’s Victoria Road, St Vincent Care Home in Binstead and Ash Lane in Gunville, the 2024 winner.
Some 20 dazzling displays feature on this year’s official map. Islanders are encouraged to visit and vote for their favourite throughout December at www.islandecho.co.uk/xmas.
Tune in to BBC One’s The One Show tonight from 19:00 to see the Isle of Wight sparkle.
