The driver of a Suzuki Swift who was involved in a 2-car crash was found to be more than three times the drink drive limit at the time of the collision, a court has heard.
Danai Gandanzara, 42, of Albert Road in Sandown, admitted drink driving when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (29th October).
Prosecuting, Liz Miller told the court that on 11th October, at 18:10 in the evening, Gandanzara was involved in a 2-car road traffic collision on New Road in Brading.
The 42-year-old was seen to be staggering and stumbling upon exiting the vehicle.
Police were called to the scene and immediately conducted a roadside breath test. Following a positive result, Gandanzara was taken to Newport Police Station where the lowest reading recorded was 107 – more than 3x the legal limit of 35.
The case was adjourned until the 10th January where a pre-sentence report is to be compiled. Gandanzara was handed an interim driving ban in the meantime.

Personally I have had enough of drink drivers on the
Island.
No excuses, 42 years of age should know better.
Drink driving kills, lock the selfish inconsiderate B’stards
up who drink drive.
Sod all strong enough punisments for these piss/snort drivers. Should be an automatic jail sentence of 10 years if caught drink/swill driving and 20 years if they injure someone. Life if they kill someone
Need to really crack down on these people. Huge protential to kill someone. Must start having custodial sentences. As all the evidence shows custodial sentences don’t stop murderers etc but would thougthless crimes like this.
